A Bubbly Place Full of “Fizz”

Altdorf, a small town 40 minutes from Lucerne, Switzerland, is where you find this bubbly place called “Fizz”.

Driving from Lucerne to Tessin, the southern part of Switzerland towards Italy, or driving back from Tessin, you should take the Altdorf exit and make a stopover at FIZZ to enjoy one of the best Flammkuchen (Thin crust Pizza) around,  together with one of the many specialty cocktails and drinks they offer such as Mai Tai, Bahama Mama, Long Island Ice Tea, La Bomba, etc. This modern, sophisticated Bar-Lounge is owned and operated by Roland Gasser and his Daughter Jacqueline Muheim. You will find both of them operating the bar and service.

This neat place really is a family teamwork effort, Jacky’s husband Andy manages all the advertising, marketing, sound, and maintenance and Roland’s wife Faria handles the administration.

Roland is a world-class chef,  he started out at the Clipper Restaurant in Zurich, then Palace Hotel in St.Moritz, then traveled across the ocean to the Bahamas, from there to the United States working in first-class resorts in Central and South Florida.

Immigrated back to  Switzerland from the USA over 24 years ago they started out in Lieli, Canton of Lucerne, then moved to Altdorf, Canton URI, to take over the Lehnhof Restaurant, as the Lehnhof closed for major renovations after 10 years, they take over Hotel Zum Schwarzen Loewen, also In Altdorf. After 6 years the Loewen Hotel also was due for major renovations during which time, the “Fizz” concept was born!

This place is lively with a mixed crowd of young and older, there is a nice choice of menu items from the Flammkuchen, Caesar Salad, Chicken-Schnitzel-Brot, and Beef Tartar. Also, try one of the daily drink specials! And while you are sipping on your cocktail, check out the Wallart all around the place, created by Faria’s sister Nazarine. (www.artpal.com)
